Catena’s 40nm FM radio and GNSS front end IP in volume production

A major Chinese cell phone manufacturer ramped up volume production in 2015 with Catena’s 40nm FM radio and GNSS front end IP inside.

Catena's combined Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and FM radio transceiver IP is a fully integrated alignment-free turn-key solution for FM and GNSS enabled SoC devices. The FM transceiver and GNSS RF front-end combination shares a common frequency synthesizer and other infrastructure, resulting in a small die area and inherent interference free coexistence between concurrent FM and GNSS operations. The GNSS front-end supports concurrent reception of the GPS L1 C/A standard and the GLONASS standard, which results in a faster time for first fix and provides a higher reliability and coverage in difficult areas. Concurrent reception of GPS L1 C/A and BEIDOU is also supported.
